In Vietnam the lotus is the national flower. It grows from the mud of the pond and opens clean and bright every morning. That is the whole idea behind L'AMYEN.
It all started on a vacation with my sister. She is four years younger than me, but one day two guests thought I was her mother. I laughed about it at first, but that moment stayed with me.
It was not about vanity. It was a reminder of how quickly life can show on our faces, especially for women who work hard, carry stress, care for their families, and often put everyone else before themselves. That moment sent me on a mission. I wanted to find something that would help my skin look healthier, smoother, and more youthful. I tried everything.
I have memberships at both Sam's Club and Costco, and it felt like I bought every skincare product that promised results. Some worked for me. Others irritated my skin. But one thing kept bothering me: every time I turned a bottle around, I saw a long list of ingredients I could not pronounce or understand. I kept asking myself why skincare had to be so complicated. I wanted something simpler, something thoughtfully formulated with ingredients I could recognize, understand, and feel confident putting on my skin.
That is when I turned to my co-founder, Duyen Tran. Duyen has a background in Chemical Engineering and experience working with cosmetic formulations. She loved her career, but eventually stepped away to devote her time to caring for her family and her elderly parents. When I shared my frustration with her, we discovered that we wanted the same thing: skincare created with everyday women in mind, women like us, who want effective, uncomplicated products and want to understand what they are putting on their skin.
And that is how L'AMYEN was born. The name brings together Lam from Nguyen Lam and Yen from Duyen Tran, a reflection of our friendship, our Vietnamese heritage, and the journey we started together. Two Vietnamese women, one shared dream: to help women feel beautiful and confident, one bottle at a time.
